Patrick Bauchau: Patrick Bauchau Club

Patrick Bauchau Club is an online community where fans can get to know one another and share their appreciation for Patrick and his work. Exchange messages via the message board/e-mail list, chat, share photos and more! Patrick occasionally schedules chats as well, and transcripts of his past Club chats are available to members.

NOTE: You must have a Yahoo! ID to use the Club website, including the chat room. All members will receive Club messages via e-mail unless choosing the "nomail/web only" option. Your message delivery setting may be changed at any time; an e-mail with directions will be sent to you when you join.

• If you are currently a member of PB-Club via e-mail only and need to link your e-mail address to your Yahoo! ID to access the Club chat room, etc., use Yahoo's Membership Wizard.

Club Guidelines:

Here are guidelines for Club members to follow - please read and adhere to them. Anyone deemed to be violating the guidelines, especially those guidelines governing behavior, will be given a warning. If that person continues to misbehave, he or she will be subject to expulsion from the club. These guidelines are meant to ensure that the Club is a safe and fun place for fans of all ages.

• Topics of Discussion
  This is a Club for Patrick's fans to meet and share appreciation for his work. It's also meant to be a place where we can get to know each other. We don't have to talk about Patrick all the time, but try not to stray so far off topic that the purpose of the Club is lost. Messages or chat about things in our own lives is OK, though if it gets to the point where it's going to be a long-running personal "conversation," it should be taken to private chat/e-mail. Any discussion about Patrick's career is fine. Discussion about aspects of his life that aren't excessively personal are also fine, such as his gardening, other interests and so on. Anything excessively personal or of an intrusive nature will not be tolerated.
  • There is a book group as part of the Club. We choose one book every month or so and those who are taking part post their thoughts, reviews, etc., about the book. Though this is not strictly Patrick-related, it's considered on topic because Patrick encourages reading and his father is an author. We also have been known to discuss books that we wish to see made into films (with Patrick in them, of course). Patrick also has suggested a title or two for us in the past.

• Beware of Forwarded Messages
  Do not send the latest joke, funny anecdote, virus alert, etc., to the Club. If you forward a message from another forum that is appropriate and on-topic, make sure you have permission from the original author before forwarding it, and make sure you give proper credit for it.

• No Spamming
  Do not post bulk or junk messages. Do not promote your e-mail list, club, website, etc., without first receiving permission to do so. Ads of any kind posted by members are not permitted.

• Be Considerate of Others
  Keep in mind that members may be part of any age group; keep discussion appropriate for a general audience (including language use and context of discussion). Use a spoiler warning in the subject line and/or text of your message if you are posting about a show or movie that others may not have seen. Be polite. If you have a grievance with someone, take it to private e-mail/chat and don't drag other members of the Club into it. Flaming will not be tolerated.

• Chat Rules
  We sometimes get a large number of people in the chat room at once. Try to type your responses so that the room doesn't scroll excessively (don't type just a few words, hit enter, type a few more, hit enter, and so on, when you can say the same thing in one line). If Patrick does a chat, there will be special rules posted. Follow them. Anyone violating the rules during one of Patrick's chats is subject to expulsion from the Club. We don't want to be a dicatorship, but rules are necessary to keep the chat running smoothly so that it's an enjoyable experience for all.

• No HTML in Posts
  All posts, whether sent by e-mail or via the website, should be HTML free. Use plain text only.

• No Attachments
  Attachments are not allowed due to the possibility of accidental virus infection. If you want to post a photo, use the appropriate area of the club or your own webspace, then post a message indicating how people can find the image.

• Use Informative Subject Lines
  Please make sure the subject line of your post is relevant to the topic. This is especially important in those cases where posts go back and forth and the topic ends up getting changed, or when someone on digest replies to a message. Make sure your subject gives an indication of what your post is really about.

• Use Appropriate Quoting
  When replying to a message, quote judiciously. Include just enough of the previous post so that people know to what you're referring. Edit out the extra stuff. Also be sure that it's clear which part of your message is yours and which is the material you're including from the previous post. If you're replying to several points mentioned in another post, use dialog format. In other words, quote the snippet from one point, then reply, then go on to the next point, quote just the necessary bit and your reply, and so on.

• Miscellaneous
  From time to time, other rules or guidelines may be given by the Club moderators. Be sure to follow them. Any questions should be directed to the moderators.

  This one should be self-explanatory. ;-)
