Patrick Bauchau: Choose Me

Do not use photo without prior, written permission.Choose Me is an offbeat combination of drama and comedy that provides an twisted, but interesting, look at the search for love. Ann (Genevieve Bujold), aka Dr. Nancy Love, is a radio talk host who is at least as confused and sexually neurotic as any of her callers. Bar owner Eve (Lesley Ann Warren) never seems to find the right guy -- she's torn between the Zack (Patrick Bauchau) and Mickey (Keith Carradine). Zack is a French gangster who's been known to hit his wife, and Mickey is a self-professed compulsive liar, who may or may not be lying and who has a habit of proposing to women. Then there's Pearl (Rae Dawn Chong), Zack's wife. She's also drawn to both Zack and Mickey, as is Ann.

Strange yet compelling, surreal and yet somehow true-to-life, Choose Me is as much about the characters as the plot. The film has an intriguing, bluesy, life lived at midnight feel, with great performances and a perfect soundtrack by Teddy Pendergrass.
