Patrick Bauchau: Carnivàle
Carnivàle introduced us to the regulars of this roving band of "freaks" and set the stage for a battle between good and evil. The series starred Nick Stahl (In the Bedroom) as Ben Hawkins, a young man taken in by the Carnivàle, and Clancy Brown as Brother Justin, a preacher who may not be quite what his followers believe. Patrick Bauchau played Professor Lodz, "Le Mentaliste Magnifique," an enigmatic blind man who can read minds. Other cast members included Michael Jay Anderson, Amy Madigan, Clea DuVall, Tim DeKay, Adrienne Barbeau and John Fleck. Carnivàle was the creation of Daniel Knauf (Wolf Lake). Two seasons aired on HBO. The cable network has announced they will not be renewing the show for a third season. There are fan-based efforts to bring the show back, and there will be a fan-run CarnyCon LIVE in April 2006. See the links page for sites with more information. There is a 6-disc DVD set of season one and a season one soundtrack CD available, and HBO is reportedly planning to release a season two DVD set sometime later this year.
